lei cha "Lei" means to pestle. By grinding tea leaves, sesame, peanuts and other ingredients into powder in the ceramic bowl, hot or cold water is added to mix everything well before intake. When the ancestors of the Hakka people in Taiwan tried to open barrenland for farming, goods and materials were very scarce. Since the physical labor was intensive, in order to supplement energy and have a healthy body, pestled tea was created.  The Hakka pestled tea not only induces salivation, quenches thirst, it also helps nourishing the spleen and stomach. Therefore, Lei tea is not only a drink but also a well being kind of tea, with Hakka people's ingenious thought and diligence hard working spirit.
